I mentioned I was able to do the running part on Wii Fitness but when I bought Wii Fitness Plus with the balance board, it opened up a whole other aspect of exercise.
I took the test to register my mii. Now it’s decent and does show you how out of balance your body is. However, don’t get hung up on some of what they tell you. They did have my BMI at around 24 and now is closer to 23, but they said my recommended weight was 153 pounds. OK – I’m 5′ 10″ tall. I have no desire to be that skinny.
But the balance tests opened my eyes. My body seems to lean to the right and is not centered properly and the fact is most are off center at least somewhat. The exercises on balance actually do get you to focus on this and that’s a good thing.
Now it’s recommended you take a body test daily but I see no reason for that. I do mine once a week. You can do the shorter version once you’re set up or go into the longer version.
It amazes me how well the board actually works. I was doing the plank exercise and doing it for 60 seconds so my body was quivering. It told me it was too. My virtual trainer told me we would work on that.
There are a large amount of exercises that utilize the balance board and I think it’s well worth it to purchase it. There are other games and fitness programs that also utilize it but I haven’t tried any of those as of yet.
The Wii balance board is really a nice piece of equipment if you make use of it. By the way, I had it facing in the wrong direction the first time I used it and could not figure out why my trainer kept telling me to step with my right foot when she was stepping with her left.
It was really bad on the ski slope as I would lean right and go left.
